Hi I'm Chris Grimley the proud owner of Fusion Hair co in Lincolnshire, winner of both best textured stylist and best textured hair salon in Lincolnshire, and I'm on a mission to educate the industry in the art of curly and textured hair.
“In my opinion, you shouldn’t be shying away from curly/textured hair – as an industry we need to be able to offer services to all hair types in the future. It’s a travesty that I personally couldn’t walk into any salon anywhere in the UK and get a haircut and finish due to fear or lack of education! This makes me sad. If you’re scared by this hair type, don’t be! Get some education, learn some new techniques and watch your clientele expand like you’ve never seen before! I love my industry and I’d love to see all salons welcoming everyone – that’s my dream.

Do I need prior experience with curly or textured hair?
The Academy is built to support complete beginners as well as stylists who want to refine their skills. We meet you where you’re at.
What will I learn?
Depending on the course, topics may include:
• Understanding curl types + hair structures
• Cleansing and moisturising routines
• Product knowledge and usage
• Cutting for curls and texture
• Styling and diffusing techniques
• Cultural history, language, and client consultation
• How to create a safe, inclusive salon experience
Are the courses hands-on?
Yes! We offer both theory and practical workshops. You’ll work on high-quality curly and textured training heads (sourced specifically for realism) and, in most classes, live models.
Can I bring my own tools?
You’re welcome to, but we also have a full kit of recommended tools, so you can practise with equipment designed to protect your body and optimise results.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. All learners receive a certificate of completion to showcase their new skills and boost client confidence.
Where are the classes held?
Most in-person sessions run at Fusion Hair Co in Lincolnshire, with additional tour dates across the UK. With costs covered group, team or 1-1 sessions can be held in a professional salon environment. Online education options are also available.
